Fund Raising - Turning
Trash Into Cash
Frequent Questions:
Q:
How will recycling printer cartridges help our environment?
A:
The impact the cartridge recycling program has on the
environment depends on motivated individuals and their ability
to create awareness and encourage their community to participate
in programs like ours. Every cartridge collected makes a
difference. Imagine the difference when thousands of cartridges
are collected!
Over 30 million inkjet & laser cartridges are sold annually
in North America and over 25 million will be dumped in our landfills. Recycling
will allow over 3,000 tons of cartridges to be used again. It
takes two and a half ounces of oil to produce one inkjet
cartridge and three and a half quarts of oil to produce one
laser jet cartridge. Half a gallon of oil is conserved for every
laser cartridge recycled.
Q:
What do I need to begin the program?
A:
Motivation is all it takes. Schools should advertise the
cartridge collection in every newsletter. Place a
collection box or two in a central area of the school, church or
business. Encourage the students to ask parents for their
work place to participate and donate empties to the school.
Q:
How long will the recycling program last?
A:
The recycling program is an on going, year round program.
Q:
What are my costs to participate in the program?
A:
There are no costs to you to participate in our recycling
program.
Q:
When do I get paid?
A:
Once we receive your empty cartridge within 30 days you will
receive a cheque.
Q:
Is there a minimum number of cartridges you will purchase?
A:
We do ask that you collect at least 25 inkjet cartridges or 10
laser cartridges before
sending them to us.
Q:
Can I buy recycled inkjet cartridges from you?
A:
Visit our main site at http://www.inkmagic.com
and save up to 50% on your next inkjet cartridge purchase. We
can also apply credit for returned empties towards the purchase
of new or remanufactured inkjet cartridges.
Q:
How do I collect cartridges?
A:
Collect cartridges from anyone who uses inkjet and laser
printers. Bring them from home, work, school or contact local
businesses. Maybe your local office supply stores or computer
stores would be interested in donating their empty cartridges
for your charity or organization.
Q:
How do we know what to collect?
A:
As a general rule, any inkjet cartridge with electronics on it will be
accepted. Please look for our list of cartridges we
purchase.
Most cartridges will have a part number on the front of the
cartridge. If we receive a cartridge not on our buy back list,
it will not be paid for.
Q:
How do we store the cartridges as they are collected?
A:
Place inkjet cartridges in a zip lock plastic bag. Treat the cartridges
with care so that the print heads are not damaged. Keep
cartridges from extreme heat or extreme cold conditions.
Laser cartridges should not be exposed to direct
sunlight.
Q:
How do I inform the community about our recycling program?
A:
Your local radio and televisions stations will often provide
free advertising and public service announcements for
recycling. Send notices home with your students or club
members. Make mention of the fundraiser in every
newsletter.
Q:
How can we increase the amount of cartridges collected?
A:
Be creative, have students get involved. Offer the class who
brings the most empties in to the school a reward or
party. Get the local business community to involved.
Many business are happy to donate their used cartridges to a
worthy cause. Arrange to have a member of your club or
organization pickup the empties on a regular basis. This
will make it easier for the business to participate.
Q:
How do I package my cartridges for shipping?
A:
Package your cartridges in a sturdy box and use protective
materials to keep the cartridges secure. Complete the cartridge
collection form and place it inside your box. For smaller boxes
of cartridges please return them to us by Canada Post or US
Postal Service. For larger boxes please return to us using
Purolator ground collect. If you have any questions please
contact us. We will reimburse any reasonable shipping
paid.
